In the winter of 1982, an Antarctic research base under the American Antarctic Research Program came under siege from a mysterious shapeshifting alien organism. Most of the 12 man crew became victims of the organism. Helicopter pilot R.J. MacReady devised a plot to destroy the organism once and for all: Blow up the research station. MacReady, cook Nauls, station manager Garry, and lead mechanic Childs planted dynamite all over the base. The base was successfully destroyed, and MacReady and Childs were left to freeze to death. After a week of not being able to contact them, McMurdo station radios a nearby research station: U.S. Research Station 8, and asks them to check in on Outpost 31. They soon make the discovery that not only was the outpost destroyed, something was still very much alive at the site. A bad storm is rolling in, and the station won't be able to go anywhere for the next 3-4 days. Can they make it that long? That's up to you to decide...
