Play as Devin, an intern at a small game studio where your coworkers ask you to help them organize their space and bring some colour into their stressful environment.
Good day internet! Today, the game designer will ramble on about one of her favourite subject, UI design!
Ok, our first idea was quite simple, computer folders! We are in an office full of computers after all, so it would fit the theme, and working some good colours in there could be interesting, right?
Folders, post-it notes and chat bubbles that pop out of the phone. A good start!
But then we realized something, we should make it more diegetic!
What if, and hear me out on this, Devin had a tablet with her! It's such a simple solution to our problem.
Folders vs Tablet UI, Fight!
This seemed like the perfect idea, it works amazingly for chatting and a possible check list and to catalogue all the items in your inventory!
Fun fact, our artist didn't have a ruler at hand when he drew this, he just used a random card!
After looking over these sketches, we decided to do a small mock-up inside the game.
Mock-ups! You can access the inventory easily even when exploring.
Oh, and that behind the tablet, is the office! (We're working on it, don't worry)
Spatially Unaware Studios, over and out!
(No updates on the Energy Drink count. But can anyone tell me if drinking 3 coffees a day is healthy?)
Furthering the Development process, we talk about implementing mechanics and the process of developing a game testing session.
In this Update, we dive into the actual office space in our new vertical slice, Dev In The Room!
Introductions are in order, don't we think? This is an introductory post regarding "Dev In The Room". A 3D project powered by IPLeiria.
